Electronic waste is the world’s fastest growing and most valuable domestic waste stream. The increasing production of e-waste is driving ever-growing levels of export from developed to developing countries. Despite the fact that countries worldwide are actively recognizing the issues surrounding e-waste and introducing policies or regulations attempting to govern e-waste, much of the global e-waste is accumulating in open dumpsites in several developing countries.

Some examples of electronic waste include TVs, computer monitors, printers, keyboards, cables, clocks, calculators, phones, cameras, radios, etc. E-waste contains toxic components that are dangerous to human health, such as mercury, lead, cadmium, polybrominated flame retardants, barium, and lithium. The negative health effects of these toxins on humans include brain, heart, liver, kidney, and skeletal system damage.

Electronic waste in Thailand is increasing at an alarming rate. Although society is fully aware of how harmful and toxic electronic waste is to the environment, there is a lack of proper management of e-waste. In order to strive for proper management of e-waste, we propose an application that encourages and keeps track of the e-waste collection process. First, in order to start having proper management of e-waste, there needs to be a method for people to be able to know how and where to dispose of their e-waste. Which comes to the first tracking point of the application, which will locate all e-waste drop-off points. Next, people will want to know what the e-waste they dropped off will be used for, so, the second tracking point of the application is tracking the deposited e-waste from the drop-off point to the sorting location, where next, the waste will be separated into two categories: repairable and non-repairable. Repairable e-waste is repaired and reused, while non-repairable e-waste is sent out to locations that can dispose of the e-waste properly. The application will thoroughly track the e-waste collection process from start to finish, and ensure that it is disposed of properly and safely, so we do not endanger our planet.
